Personal growth occurs when the personality grows and spiritual growth occurs when the spirit grows. Personal growth deals with the evolution that is achieved through the learning obtained from life experiences and is not linked to the person’s age or the number or type of life experiences they have had. Someone with 25 years of experience may have more experience than a 60-year-old.
Ruby Sengar, a blogger, writer, spiritual geek, and spiritual thought leader who has often spoken about and extensively covered spiritual and personal growth in her writings shares her invaluable input on the two aspects of growth integral to human prosperity.
Differences between personal and spiritual growth
Personal development is not the same as spiritual development, although spirituality must be taken into account as a means of human development and its importance as the basis for the integral development of the human being.
However, we must respect the evolution of each person, their beliefs, and life experiences and respect above all things that the person wants to have spiritual growth or that they do not want it, because spirituality does not go with it because they do not believe in the spirituality.
If you are interested in knowing how to develop spiritual intelligence, it is important first that you learn to meditate and/or pray, as well as to observe your thoughts and the reflections you have on a day-to-day basis about yourself or about the most important issues in your life. Life such as, for example, the meaning of suffering, death, disease, or evil.
How to start personal growth?
The study of Psychology and the reading of self-help books can help you a lot on the path of personal growth. My advice is to start by reading simple psychology books that help you reflect on yourself, get to know yourself, learn to connect with yourself .and enter the world of self-help. You may also be interested in knowing that there are techniques and tools that are used for personal growth and that can be very useful in your path of self-improvement, such as meditation and everything that has to do with knowing yourself as a human being. Meditation will help you find peace in silence, calm your mind, connect with yourself, focus on yourself and not so much on others and the outside world, stop looking outside and find the answers inside you.
Techniques to develop your spiritual growth
There are many techniques that will allow you to grow spiritually, but of all of them, I would advise you to start with the practice of Mindfulness, as it is very simple, simple and does not require the adoption of any spiritual creed or religious practice.
You can start by practicing about 10-15 minutes of Mindfulness each day and increase the practice time little by little each week until finally reach an hour of daily practice. It is very important that you acquire a daily practice and do not skip your daily meditation time looking for excuses or thinking that there are always thousands of things to do before dedicating a little time a day to meditate.
Apart from the practice of meditation, which I consider the best technique to achieve spiritual growth, you can also do the following activities that I propose and that will help you in your spiritual growth:
- Read books on spirituality, reflect and meditate on them.
- Choose a teacher or spiritual guide to do practice and follow their teachings with him.
- Take spiritual journeys that nourish and gratify you, such as the Camino de Santiago.
- Practice introspection and look within yourself to find answers to the issues or areas of your life in which you are confused or feel lost.
- Practice gratitude and see the positive side of life, the kind side of people, and the possibilities that life presents to you.
- Practice the habit of happiness, laughter, enjoying life, playing games, and having fun.
- Practicing movement or conscious exercise will have a very beneficial impact not only on your body but also on your mind.
