Doramectin is a new generation of anti-parasitic drugs. Compared with other commercially available ivermectin products, its anti-parasitic range is wider, the effect is better, and the effective time for preventing parasitic reinfection is longer. It is the best new veterinary antiparasitic drug in the world with the most potential for development.
The main parasites of large-scale pig farms in my country are roundworms, trichinella, nodules, lung nematodes, kidney worms, whipworms, etc., and external parasites include scabies mites, blood lice, etc. Infection by these parasites can lead to anemia, weight loss, stunted growth and development in pigs, reduced feed conversion rate, and increased susceptibility to other diseases, causing serious economic losses to the pig industry.
Therapeutic efficacy of doramectin
Doramectin has a good effect on porcine digestive tract nematodes. It has been reported that pigs were administered intramuscularly at a dose of 0.3 mg/kg body weight, and the artificial infection and natural infection cases gained weight at 7 days, 14 days and 21 days after administration. Significantly higher than the control group (pig P<0.0001); compared with the control group, the parasites were 100% repelled, and no side effects occurred.
In the treatment of scabies mites in pigs, it has good effects from suckling piglets to sows. After artificial infection with scabies mites, it is administered intramuscularly at 0.3 mg/kg body weight. The elimination effect of body infection was very obvious (P<0.05). In the treatment of kidney worms in pregnant sows, the dose of 0.3 mg/kg was injected into the neck at one time, and the detection rate of urine worm eggs on the 56th and 57th days was 0, and the expulsion rate was 100%, while the control group 3762 eggs per milliliter of urine. It has the same effect on pig lung worms, pig lice, etc.
Based on the antiparasitic activity of the drug at tissue concentrations greater than 1 ng/g, the validity period of the drug can be assessed.
The duration of ivermectin concentrations greater than 1 ng/g was 18 days in the skin, 18 days in the lungs, 18 days in the gastrointestinal mucosa, and 18 days in the abomasum mucosa.
The duration of doramectin concentrations greater than 1 ng/g was 26 days in the skin, 38 days in the lungs, 38 days in the gastrointestinal mucosa, and 38 days in the abomasum mucosa.
It can be seen that the time for doramectin to be greater than 1 ng/g in digestive tract mucosa and lung tissue is 38 days, which is 20 days longer than that of ivermectin. Therefore, the killing effect of doramectin on parasites is significantly stronger than that of ivermectin, and the effective time of preventing parasite reinfection is longer.
How to use doramectin
l% Doramectin injection, intramuscular injection, the dosage is 0.3 mg/kg body weight, that is, 1 ml per 33 kg body weight. The pigs on the farm are dewormed once a year in spring and autumn. The sow should be dewormed 7 to 14 days before delivery. The primiparous sows should be dewormed once within 4 to 14 days before mating, and once again within 7 to 14 days before parturition. Breeding boars are generally dewormed once in spring and autumn. Piglets were dewormed once at 20 to 30 days of age (during the feeding period of suckling pigs) and 60 to 70 days of age (before piglets were transferred to the group). All newly introduced pigs were given a single dose of the drug, and then grouped with other pigs after 10 days.
Note that within 1 week of treatment, contact between untreated pigs and treated pigs should be avoided; sows should be dewormed in the empty pregnancy period as much as possible; the environment must be thoroughly cleaned after medication, and at the same time, disinfection and worming should be carried out.
